“The Self-Closed Child: An Autism Documentary” sets out to tell the stories of families with young children who have been diagnosed with Autism. Our goal is to track about ten families for at least one full year, and follow along on their unpredictable journey – their struggles, confusions, decisions, hopes, and triumphs. In addition, we will also highlight the efforts made by parents, advocates and health care professionals to build a better future for children with Autism. Check out the rest of this site to learn more about our project.
Total project budget: $50,000
“Get us going” phase 1 target: $5,000
Proper funding is essential for the timely completion of this documentary. The “phase 1″ funding, specifically, will allow us to start filming with more families, pay a follow-up visit to Evie in Idaho, and expand our fundraising and grant application activities. Please consider making a donation toward our project! Aside from our eternal gratitude, we also have a series of special rewards for our supporters, including DVDs, credits, tax-deductible status, profit-sharing points, and some unique, exciting opportunities. Go to the “Support Us” page for all the details! In addition, please help us spread the word to anyone who may be interested in supporting us!

The term “self-closed child” is based on the Chinese word for Autism, “自闭症”, which literally means “self closed syndrome”.
